These are all rough images since I haven't thrown them into photoshop quite yet. The whole idea behind it was to be taking off these gloves that in a sense symbolize my mother's 'typical woman' behavior that I've seemed to taken on as my own. I believe I'm going to use the image second from the top for my final. It gives off an almost defeated feel which is something I was hoping to capture. The top one I just threw in since I like it....I'm not sure quite yet if I want to keep them color or turn them into black and whites and attempt to make them look aged in a way, but this is where I'm at so far.</span><br /></div>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-71471186800486277832009-11-11T08:00:00.000-08:002009-11-11T08:02:31.797-08:00Roger Update<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: times new roman;">Roger has again been spotted!! As I was walking to class this morning I noticed a cat walking along side the Applied Arts building. Bad news, however, his front right paw seems to be out of commission and he was limping. It seems that this cat is an art fan since this is the second time he's been seen around the art building.</span><br /></div>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-85965159195192978232009-11-04T13:12:00.000-08:002009-11-04T13:51:04.368-08:00Midway Through<div style="text-align: center; font-family: times new roman;">This class for me so far has proven to be pretty beneficial when it comes to my drawing abilities. I have been looking back at my past work from Life Drawing 1 and have seen what I've gotten better at and what I need to improve on. The main focus and the biggest change I have seen would be my self portrait drawings. I feel more comfortable with drawing the face and not so hesitant to start a drawing. I feel that my likeness has improved but could still use quite a bit of work. Here's a link to my drawings so far this semester.....<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/44271589@N03/">http://www.flickr.com/photos/44271589@N03/</a><br /><br />Even though I feel like I've been improving, I still need to work on quite a bit of things. I would really like to improve on the likeness to my drawings. I am finding that the portraits I have done of other people don't really look like them. Another big thing I could really work on would be the planes on the face and skull, I'm still a bit confused. <br /><br />For my second self-portrait I really want to focus on some personality traits of mine and just how much they really aren't mine. There are so many things I do without thinking about that I get from my mother. Since I was a kid and just being around my mom all the time I've picked up a lot of her habits and emotional traits. I really want to focus on just how 50's like my house was growing up. My mom didn't work when my parents were married, she would clean and have dinner ready and although this was much appreciated it was unfair to her. Now that I'm older I realize just how much of that mindset I have actually picked up and how much I really wish I hadn't. I really hope to portray this with photography, I've been focusing a lot on <a href="http://www.berk-edu.com/RESEARCH/francescaWoodman/">Francesca Woodman. </a>I really like the look of her photographs and the simplicity of the environment she puts herself in.<br /></div>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-20207153149131903752009-11-04T13:03:00.001-08:002009-11-04T13:08:16.776-08:00Oh yeah....I'm a graphic designer....<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5edB4p3_yZrcHIsLmCDdL7gtjxWRcMwzaU9ew5eUJ17PbfdZ9ZfS7MK-LAtEWIck1K2QHIzgPlKdB_NZ2wq1F9HNMA-TO0ZuCqRZZZ-jlncN7hUlwoETf15DYZk4SWF9S2jdie0zPvGFG/s1600-h/DSCF5824.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5edB4p3_yZrcHIsLmCDdL7gtjxWRcMwzaU9ew5eUJ17PbfdZ9ZfS7MK-LAtEWIck1K2QHIzgPlKdB_NZ2wq1F9HNMA-TO0ZuCqRZZZ-jlncN7hUlwoETf15DYZk4SWF9S2jdie0zPvGFG/s400/DSCF5824.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400357207707452594" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAZmxi72e9wYkmG5ghudlUyba5tospkpPUjUfd8AkuTizBJwtgKxFPmxB03EljHX7vqUo_Iqc7uFy8DI38Q0InMR8hrNwhvaS7fpLnh7di-EX4uc2KFCXURVzRvX-8dBnBuzj8vMu5_rOK/s1600-h/DSCF5822.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAZmxi72e9wYkmG5ghudlUyba5tospkpPUjUfd8AkuTizBJwtgKxFPmxB03EljHX7vqUo_Iqc7uFy8DI38Q0InMR8hrNwhvaS7fpLnh7di-EX4uc2KFCXURVzRvX-8dBnBuzj8vMu5_rOK/s400/DSCF5822.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400357140211944642" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family: times new roman;">These are a few images I recently had taken of my first project in product and packaging design. I wanted to pick a product that I knew I would really get into so I chose coffee syrups. This project was really difficult to start since I really didn't know what direction to go. The last couple years I was really questioning why I wanted to be in this field in the first place so I'm really trying to incorporate what I like to do with my design work. I really enjoy drawing so everything on this packaging I did by hand and scanned them in and did some minor tweeking in photoshop. I found that by doing this I was able to really get into what I was doing and came out with a better result in the long-run. </span><br /></div>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-83668130607659358602009-10-12T10:20:00.001-07:002009-10-12T10:32:31.735-07:00Face Off<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7BsDLsQq1O4-UarbYNu-yb9uItEMvuSpaGuLxbptU-grjf9ad5Ca1BbDPDqQGTkk56-gxomxkzHQ3y2lsfKslSAW3YDuNvX1xq2nORRejnVjeJhvu0o95mc518r7TsD4aenVDOsXe8wAl/s1600-h/face1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 358px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7BsDLsQq1O4-UarbYNu-yb9uItEMvuSpaGuLxbptU-grjf9ad5Ca1BbDPDqQGTkk56-gxomxkzHQ3y2lsfKslSAW3YDuNvX1xq2nORRejnVjeJhvu0o95mc518r7TsD4aenVDOsXe8wAl/s400/face1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391765296648857250" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family:times new roman;">This would be my first attempt at a full face, but of course being that it's me I started it at the way top right corner of my paper.....I find myself focusing to much on the features on their own than I do on the face as a whole. I just so happened to have hit up Kwik Trip on this particular adventure and this little guy looked hungry. Being that this cat was a stray I was a little apprehensive but he was a friendly fellow. After sharing my food I had to walk away for fear I would get attached to this little guy, but as luck would have it you can't just walk away and never think of him again. I soon became obsessed with Roger and would have taken him home but I have multiple roommates and they all seem to have some sort of allergy and I don't think Roger would appreciate living in my closet. I did happen to spot him sitting on the edge of the road watching traffic. I unfortunately have no picture of him but hopefully I will spot him once again. So....what we know about this little guy: he's very skinny, he likes hot dogs but refuses to eat the bun and he likes to watch traffic. As each drawing was done it was easier to just jump into the whole drawing unlike the first where I spent much of my time thinking about starting.</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVaqMTuZw5wpAFrVAHRTd4ldwVA1co8BqEUhaYg8bT9fUk2wWx8jYr1zsREg8GNWMrmsLvz3tukwgcsHIOOscNb5Svpmngorkf_uR3JbnUazMIzdx7B7SafLgKkW8xCQbUDPf1a95ELl0j/s1600-h/profile1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 376px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVaqMTuZw5wpAFrVAHRTd4ldwVA1co8BqEUhaYg8bT9fUk2wWx8jYr1zsREg8GNWMrmsLvz3tukwgcsHIOOscNb5Svpmngorkf_uR3JbnUazMIzdx7B7SafLgKkW8xCQbUDPf1a95ELl0j/s400/profile1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383767234804205426" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family:georgia;">This was the first of the many, I always start with the profile. For me this is a good starting point, it allows me to get the proportions figured out for a more difficult angle. Towards the end of the semester we got to study the bone structure and the face for a few weeks which I found extremely interesting. I realized however just how much I needed to improve and could learn by taking the second class. So, while here I hope to improve not just on my drawing skills, but learning and figuring out the bone structure, and what I've always stru</span><span style="font-family:times new roman;">ggled with....looking at the picture as a whole. I tend to zoom in on one area and over work it without realizing tha</span><span style="font-family:times new roman;">t by doing this my proportions were very wrong.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family:times new roman;">Well.......this summer I have to admit I did lit</span><span style="font-family:times new roman;">tle to no work on my own. It wasn't until the last few weeks of summer vacation that I started to feel a little artsy. I kept a sketchbook / journal all summer and since it was my first summer here in Menomonie I would ride</span><span style="font-family:times new roman;"> my </span><span style="font-family:times new roman;">bike anywhere and everywhe</span><span style="font-family:times new roman;">re hoping to capture or draw something that I found to be interesting. </span><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin7OaUvRGN2K1x1Deg47RIadz9AON6CSnhlaV-2NVcgRH8Rjq9cszgHP7dqWo8JHvsWy-KEHn5ktlBkjrXTlWWh7QlcX4jAd-ShWwRmn5Y6CyrOLoQ6yU1Z6OOpY1jXkZsH5d2r3nUoQ1U/s1600-h/painting.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 167px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin7OaUvRGN2K1x1Deg47RIadz9AON6CSnhlaV-2NVcgRH8Rjq9cszgHP7dqWo8JHvsWy-KEHn5ktlBkjrXTlWWh7QlcX4jAd-ShWwRmn5Y6CyrOLoQ6yU1Z6OOpY1jXkZsH5d2r3nUoQ1U/s400/painting.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380725646738596962" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-family:times new roman;">This was a quick painting I did while staying at my dad's house for a few weeks. I got an extended break from good ol' Lammers and was able to go home for about a week and like I said earlier. The lower image is of that tree as well as the painting, the top sketchbook image is just something that was in my head, along with a great little quote.</span> <span style="font-family:times new roman;">I am pretty disappointed at the lack of work I got done this summer. Since this was my first summer here in Menomonie I had huge plans to get a lot of work done and hopefully revisit some past projects and hopefully work on my portfolio. But such is life.....I did however finally realized that working outside of the computer for a change is extremely refreshing and I found myself using other medium instead of simply starting and finishing completely on Illustrator or Photoshop. </span><br /></div>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-91681810838173597522008-12-14T21:02:00.001-08:002008-12-14T22:04:31.102-08:00Life Drawing Final<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwsaXAOXkuY_fWzMVs3diuezTVEWqzLT_O-KZxf-IZe-TVfN1uoX7cTtWKh_m8eOFYPLXFm3-zphEKclBCO0BbdgNmeCjXXLdZb2Ce-nvYOIy5Shw5dVMFDIgQ-I7fh9T6k_BrdxWmCFER/s1600-h/selfportrait1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 286px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwsaXAOXkuY_fWzMVs3diuezTVEWqzLT_O-KZxf-IZe-TVfN1uoX7cTtWKh_m8eOFYPLXFm3-zphEKclBCO0BbdgNmeCjXXLdZb2Ce-nvYOIy5Shw5dVMFDIgQ-I7fh9T6k_BrdxWmCFER/s400/selfportrait1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279886119385886114" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8e4JFlJyEFaiplodSklc-dfeyQDLJA8J8Ko7p2kM8zAboNT0YKWcUJS3iZ55DYUn9G14bgSUe3blgfxG0lTCfGMFVTkAkL48px5KI85Q4E2Ndo89jsUGf2L_cQsuPacCWB62di2FTDMJ6/s1600-h/studies.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 114px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8e4JFlJyEFaiplodSklc-dfeyQDLJA8J8Ko7p2kM8zAboNT0YKWcUJS3iZ55DYUn9G14bgSUe3blgfxG0lTCfGMFVTkAkL48px5KI85Q4E2Ndo89jsUGf2L_cQsuPacCWB62di2FTDMJ6/s400/studies.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279878104051764130" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGRDRkIQGyUt9xZdKOg_Bi0loLRHOEaA3PbgziIFm6Y66SHDNlWvCh5KKLlWT9x6PFUxeCLwKxNgkNmjt5-zNW8qSYWlSa3XDg8YThjF7-wGc2uLGFgzcNVArS36xWfbVWkaDO7QiKRwi9/s1600-h/finalgestures.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 138px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGRDRkIQGyUt9xZdKOg_Bi0loLRHOEaA3PbgziIFm6Y66SHDNlWvCh5KKLlWT9x6PFUxeCLwKxNgkNmjt5-zNW8qSYWlSa3XDg8YThjF7-wGc2uLGFgzcNVArS36xWfbVWkaDO7QiKRwi9/s400/finalgestures.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279878004418399138" border="0" /></a>When coming into life drawing I was really intimidated since I have never before drawn from a live model. This has been a great experience overall and I find myself applying what I have learned from this class in most of my everyday art work. It has taught me to look beyond what you just see in front of you. Besides the learning how things work in the body it has also allowed for me to think outside of the box and that there are many other things that make up a whole. I have found that I have improved a great deal with perspective and really slowing down with my drawings and to layout first before I dive into one particular spot. I do wish, however, that we would have had way more time with the face and skull, seeing my self portrait I found that my perspective of my face and just the general appearance is way off. The maniken was difficult at first but towards the end I found myself enjoying just sitting there and really trying to figure it all out.<br /></div>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-26424680234551581292008-12-05T08:40:00.001-08:002008-12-05T08:41:53.528-08:00Revised Muscles<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjaCvOGw_iiZusPbsM2PNWJJysYQ2DE5HZ_oeNzYUNTm4ILEe3PbfVgxRwsfRmpgjqKdGejpPRyiGdNcUJq_0b8slHXcTpirgVRVZKoaADWhNeu8knlj_-nC6ehdcjNO1E7XVTtI1_3til/s1600-h/legs.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 286px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjaCvOGw_iiZusPbsM2PNWJJysYQ2DE5HZ_oeNzYUNTm4ILEe3PbfVgxRwsfRmpgjqKdGejpPRyiGdNcUJq_0b8slHXcTpirgVRVZKoaADWhNeu8knlj_-nC6ehdcjNO1E7XVTtI1_3til/s400/legs.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5276347166679139458" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8BWuLQnpTaHl5Jlds4PaMY0-jhbL0ojyXZ0-Qd6U8_XtwkLPqadm7DjweU6kmfq3Di-35Ce3h8BUr0t3QojFJ9_zOKqBUv7vSLxbP_6LVrbzlLFBSjLmk0p6k7MseV9ZxAQQqr5TRuRIj/s1600-h/back+and+chest.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 286px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8BWuLQnpTaHl5Jlds4PaMY0-jhbL0ojyXZ0-Qd6U8_XtwkLPqadm7DjweU6kmfq3Di-35Ce3h8BUr0t3QojFJ9_zOKqBUv7vSLxbP_6LVrbzlLFBSjLmk0p6k7MseV9ZxAQQqr5TRuRIj/s400/back+and+chest.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5276347073867939474" border="0" /></a>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-56337093852942983592008-11-13T19:51:00.000-08:002008-11-13T20:07:26.885-08:00When in Rome...<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJfcvevKs0lBRHPf4_zFeoVNAFyJYd-qExt8ahtPzCshKUNN_KhXyj0dgW24GDGU7pKnNH5N9TeN_Tq_VbVHIuj6DXUfiMFDyb83sNduAvPmtS-mprTH3lb-c7PaSTQcBUIn6cPwlkfguG/s1600-h/sign+3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJfcvevKs0lBRHPf4_zFeoVNAFyJYd-qExt8ahtPzCshKUNN_KhXyj0dgW24GDGU7pKnNH5N9TeN_Tq_VbVHIuj6DXUfiMFDyb83sNduAvPmtS-mprTH3lb-c7PaSTQcBUIn6cPwlkfguG/s400/sign+3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5268358702558803602" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">This is a sign I made for my aunt and uncles grocery store, formally my father's. It was pretty much the scariest thing I had ever done. The size of this was huge and I had to crawl on it to paint it, on a pair of really wobbly saw horses. I reused the old sign and used whatever I already owned. I really wanted something to catch the eye of the viewer right away, I also had the amazing task of trying to figure out how to make this sign outlast the ever beating sun rays. This sign is placed right on the Sparta Bike Trail, trying to get the bikers to stop in the store. This was the first thing I got paid to do, but since it was for family I'm not sure how or if that really counts for being hired to make a sign.<br /></div>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-65151825462911986362008-11-13T19:34:00.000-08:002008-11-13T19:50:21.768-08:00Review<div style="text-align: center;">Well, not quite sure how to start, so I'll start with the beginning. When joining this class I was fearful about what my capabilities were when drawing the human form. I did relatively well in the other drawing classes and drawing was pretty much why I got into art in the first place. I found that when I look back at my drawings from the beginning of the class and now I can take everything I've learned, which is quite a bit, and make the drawings stronger. I started out by just drawing the outline of the form and not even thinking twice about what make the form function or look the way it did in the first place. I can now see the model, see the muscles and think of the functions and that really helps me think of how it should look on paper.<br /> <br />The skeletal models are a totally different story. I feel that I am still struggling with them, and more than likely all of them are wrong. I find it very difficult to look at the book and put it on my own model. I really appreciate that the list of muscles we have due are pretty much in order to the way they go on. It's not an all around terrible thing to do, I find it relaxing but frustrating at the same time. I'm not the best at finding a second source to compare with since I'm confused right off the bat.<br /><br />When it comes to the blogs, I try to keep up to date with the due dates. I'm better with the pictures we're supposed to post individually for homework. I'm terrible at posting comments and art related topics. It's not that I don't find this part of the assignment important, I feel very self conscience posting my work at the work I've done in class compared to everyone else's. Even this post might be read by somebody else and that makes me feel indifferent. I feel like I hold back with what I post and the things I say. I do feel that this is starting to make me open up and explain my work a little better than before. I find it easier to write about my work than try to do it in class and stumble all over my words in front of a group of people. The blog assignment has proved useful in other ways since I started to put my work from other classes in a different blog and have sent the link to a person who will hopefully hire me for an internship. I find it a really nice way to organize and display your work, especially for those of us how have no idea how to make our own website and beats sending a ton of files.</div>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-25134904452896500322008-11-08T18:22:00.001-08:002008-11-08T18:23:26.884-08:00Mid Semester Muscles<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq-HvcQbq7c9TYPIoNRLvQIXeavUe14GNQQhENFy3-aJUcA_FxNJBMcaDJSGvkhyXXAsY4ZWcvPtoZY8dP57JSGZ2GjfNDxr5OI9AGyTdqtxzVs2U982d58a4Bk8sn8IuqZelOEczOQY7F/s1600-h/lower_midterm.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 286px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq-HvcQbq7c9TYPIoNRLvQIXeavUe14GNQQhENFy3-aJUcA_FxNJBMcaDJSGvkhyXXAsY4ZWcvPtoZY8dP57JSGZ2GjfNDxr5OI9AGyTdqtxzVs2U982d58a4Bk8sn8IuqZelOEczOQY7F/s400/lower_midterm.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5266477736691479378" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwO8b5vZUZv9UBaUK_HfuBPSH3gbFBajdJWhPc5aMdGM3M8OZcJ-gWDH34hOsC38AePqdD5_o7Ne0OafH1OMXCvgrDQdmiojozDQedoTscHVoZiVWI15Mw6HrMWlDksdoNHXUii9AboX3m/s1600-h/upper_midterm.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 286px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwO8b5vZUZv9UBaUK_HfuBPSH3gbFBajdJWhPc5aMdGM3M8OZcJ-gWDH34hOsC38AePqdD5_o7Ne0OafH1OMXCvgrDQdmiojozDQedoTscHVoZiVWI15Mw6HrMWlDksdoNHXUii9AboX3m/s400/upper_midterm.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5266477622880839618" border="0" /></a>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-72070966963000617922008-11-08T16:44:00.001-08:002008-11-12T15:22:38.670-08:00Some of the Better Ones....<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu_gDZ1r6TGauiHq1YjdkR4soeYPo7XMIMk1a0NV8AZIZdatkTkRG35Cw3vy3e_GkBE8xpnrK3emjtlG9AiDTxOnYtexbT2MJitM8W6m4OWtLvKKovAXS12sZxLmB8gfUrdEmTp_YeljrF/s1600-h/earlier_gesture.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 133px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu_gDZ1r6TGauiHq1YjdkR4soeYPo7XMIMk1a0NV8AZIZdatkTkRG35Cw3vy3e_GkBE8xpnrK3emjtlG9AiDTxOnYtexbT2MJitM8W6m4OWtLvKKovAXS12sZxLmB8gfUrdEmTp_YeljrF/s400/earlier_gesture.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5266478806871341490" border="0" /></a>When starting out, like many I'm sure, I would try to draw the entire form when doing the quick sketches. Later I then realized how much harder it was to fit the entire image in the space I gave myself. It was also harder for me to get the right dimensions and proportions. I also felt right away that this was the best way to go about with the quick sketches, until the next few.<br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQPpSIO-JaB5cu0MD3CLTAgJ1V4yGK3eDy47LUnTKMRoEZtv0ikuW0kPwpZ_ABdI9m78jPF30lBBypkpQrsCNrePRM4GZZgcxzpfwpLH8L1ZmOS2-1V44lhDJ4JjvCuZKD4vv7KaJeA0DP/s1600-h/latergesture.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 133px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQPpSIO-JaB5cu0MD3CLTAgJ1V4yGK3eDy47LUnTKMRoEZtv0ikuW0kPwpZ_ABdI9m78jPF30lBBypkpQrsCNrePRM4GZZgcxzpfwpLH8L1ZmOS2-1V44lhDJ4JjvCuZKD4vv7KaJeA0DP/s400/latergesture.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5266452431900402306" border="0" /></a>These few sketches are from later on in the semester, this process is much easier when starting out any sketch. It allows me to get the rib cages and all other body parts in proportion. The sketches start out from 30 sec from the left, 60 sec in the middle, and 5 min on the right. The one on the far left, I've noticed, still has an issue with the size of the legs. I'm still trying the foreshortening and I feel over the course of the semester I have gotten better at it. <br />The image in the middle was a challenge, since the torso is so stretched over the cushion. As you can see I had placed the torso other places before finally getting it right.<br />The final image on the left was the most difficult, it's amazing how much different it is to draw women apposed to men. Everything is much more rounded and the muscles are difficult to see. You have to pay attention to the shadows created by them to really place them correctly.<br /></div>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-18566918379923785772008-10-27T15:20:00.001-07:002008-10-27T15:25:28.152-07:00Body World<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRtXm6C67rcQ6lPp71k1GvBqd11r87fV-Hz_7S8CFM9KzwDpRG3Jzf3v1Dcs8ARyu3GMV1T4ySxkVMqLbfVrlS0qKrfmfq-pdhfL6GNHsOG8AZv7wE5HH4MSHANWnwpmJ6zzFJMThjJafL/s1600-h/300_guntherser_080528041820603_wideweb__300x300.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: undefinedpx; height: undefinedpx;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRtXm6C67rcQ6lPp71k1GvBqd11r87fV-Hz_7S8CFM9KzwDpRG3Jzf3v1Dcs8ARyu3GMV1T4ySxkVMqLbfVrlS0qKrfmfq-pdhfL6GNHsOG8AZv7wE5HH4MSHANWnwpmJ6zzFJMThjJafL/s400/300_guntherser_080528041820603_wideweb__300x300.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5261963253088933522" /></a><br /><br /><br />I was searching the web, looking for a good site to compare my muscle structures. I was very frustrated at first, I would keep building and ripping it off and building and so on. By doing this so many times I was able to fix it and figure it out for the most part by myself. The most frustrating part was the layering of the muscles and how they worked with each other. I will utilize the other resources a lot better, I was really into the figuring out for myself part I blew that part off, which I now realize is not at all that smart. The only thing I can share for this assignment is that, the more times your mess up, the more times you get to learn. The next time I draw, I hope to understand the joints and where the muscles start and stop and how that affects the look of the body.</div>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-3360020139539636112008-09-24T12:23:00.001-07:002008-10-20T08:25:19.029-07:00The Skeletal Structure...pelvis<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgqt6uTqNwkVohLnaYWrWe2A97loRK1ZAa7JysxbLv3hjLmFWCujri2MwDYpl_TkCrvG5bp3J9F-9SN_U9J-EhXR_sSozr-_C7qnoTcN2YEgvie4dKtOn_jN01Hoaufh9DhXs5ZylvQo9W/s1600-h/Bacchus.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgqt6uTqNwkVohLnaYWrWe2A97loRK1ZAa7JysxbLv3hjLmFWCujri2MwDYpl_TkCrvG5bp3J9F-9SN_U9J-EhXR_sSozr-_C7qnoTcN2YEgvie4dKtOn_jN01Hoaufh9DhXs5ZylvQo9W/s400/Bacchus.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249672048964564610" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Bacchus. By drawing just what I saw I found myself getting the proportions all wrong and not being able to fit the whole body in the space I allowed myself. By using the technique taught in class I am able to fit the whole image in and get the proportions a little better than I had previously. This whole process goes by a lot smoother once I get the general placement down and just fill in what should be there.Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6613104941666649794.post-75120199753183665782008-09-11T14:39:00.000-07:002008-10-20T08:22:41.502-07:00<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKmlNzkdvswy3umTTqlOJhVcFSINCVuLRowXseBiValhiwHsJ4zjArRp5QfZA1JSStrxdeVPVgR6F1aGy1PHyMToqVBScaKoCTyHG9Jcx2M-88Tq13waPCHfdE3AfXwqzd2LEhiN2Lw9DH/s1600-h/photography.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKmlNzkdvswy3umTTqlOJhVcFSINCVuLRowXseBiValhiwHsJ4zjArRp5QfZA1JSStrxdeVPVgR6F1aGy1PHyMToqVBScaKoCTyHG9Jcx2M-88Tq13waPCHfdE3AfXwqzd2LEhiN2Lw9DH/s400/photography.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5244914214286473138" border="0" /></a>This was my photography final. This was by far the most enjoyable thing i've done. I was looking for a way to incorporate my family in my art work and this was what I came up with. This was my own take on the speak no evil, hear no evil, and see no evil. It was really interesting working with natural light and bouncing off a white piece of paper. I had to create a make-shift studio by pinning a black sheet to my sisters wall, while I was taking the photos whomever wasn't in the picture had to balance the huge piece of white paper. I chose for everyone to be wearing the same black sweater to not only bring consistency to each photo but give it a theatrical look since the hands and faces are very white in contrast.<br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhURX7TYOE2Io4ZCp6paprpVsN_GBX0h_6FKe9lH8_R5Px8t1aNt_RBI2B2Ai4c2o6KOAIgasbqlVjyhxHzR99Ylz5_y0S1jCrjHgodK1FjInD_zPSjlR2ZVHSPnpXnf6IVvC7R187zRbe/s1600-h/spotted+cow.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhURX7TYOE2Io4ZCp6paprpVsN_GBX0h_6FKe9lH8_R5Px8t1aNt_RBI2B2Ai4c2o6KOAIgasbqlVjyhxHzR99Ylz5_y0S1jCrjHgodK1FjInD_zPSjlR2ZVHSPnpXnf6IVvC7R187zRbe/s320/spotted+cow.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5244914119345414722" border="0" /></a>This was the first project in Graphic Design 2. The project was to pick a logo or product that we felt needed a change. I chose to play with the Spotted Cow Beer design. This was in a way difficult since they don't really have a logo, so I just made up my own design that could be used for the logo and the design of the bottle and carrying case.<br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil42dmg_eXflHzDdnajWLTttEytYtSK7uCVYwh6Md4AfIKyX1bD8TG8wQzH6qS8CXRR2Wq9qJV_RWm7d5sLDlm7y5wlItBKcAR4tnrsLPFiSVkBZQMKRKKUVmXUvlT0nwUBTiVaq6NtqGu/s1600-h/my+painting.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil42dmg_eXflHzDdnajWLTttEytYtSK7uCVYwh6Md4AfIKyX1bD8TG8wQzH6qS8CXRR2Wq9qJV_RWm7d5sLDlm7y5wlItBKcAR4tnrsLPFiSVkBZQMKRKKUVmXUvlT0nwUBTiVaq6NtqGu/s320/my+painting.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5244881940082094434" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">This was the final painting in my painting 1 class. This was a memory piece, the two red balloons represent two people, the figure below represents both my sister and I. This was also a very enjoyable project but it took me all semester to come up with my technique. The canvas is has a clear gesso and the paint is watered down to the point where it's pretty much tinted water. This helps me in layering the paint and being able to control. I work with acrylic paint which drys very quickly. By watering down the paint it gives a really cool affect if you start in the middle of the object I am able to get a really nice clear hard edge on the object almost outlining it.</div>Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17706623824289693009noreply@blogger.com2
